Sometimes, learning does not end when a lesson is over. Sometimes, it walks out of the classroom, travels to another place, and arrives in the hands of someone who needs it.
That is what happened on July 27, 2026, when a group of teachers and students from Olifant School visited Yayasan Rumah Impian Indonesia (The Dreamhouse Indonesia Foundation).
Fifteen representatives from Olifant School, consisting of teachers and students from the Preschool and Elementary levels, came to The Dreamhouse led by Mrs. Sunny E. Leatemia, S.Pd.
They did not come empty-handed. They brought basic groceries, household necessities, and furniture to be shared with the Children Crisis Center (CCC). But behind those things was a story that made the visit even more meaningful.
From Learning to Taking Action
The donations were the result of Olifant School’s Community Service Entrepreneurship Program, involving students from the Preschool and Elementary levels.
The program provides an opportunity for children to experience entrepreneurship while also learning about social responsibility.
For children, entrepreneurship can easily be understood simply as making and selling something. But there is another important question: What can we do with what we have?
The answer does not always have to be about ourselves. It can also be about others.
Through their Community Service Entrepreneurship Program, the students experienced how their efforts could become something meaningful for people beyond their own school community.
What they learned in the classroom became something tangible: groceries that could be used, household items that could support daily life, and furniture that could make a space more comfortable.
Learning became giving. And giving became a way of caring.
A Warm Welcome at the Children Crisis Center
At The Dreamhouse, the Olifant School delegation was welcomed by Yosua Lapudooh from Yayasan Rumah Impian Indonesia, together with children and caregivers from the Children Crisis Center.
For the children at CCC, a visit like this is more than receiving donated items.
It is an opportunity to meet people from outside their usual environment. It is a chance to experience the kindness of a wider community. And sometimes, it is simply meaningful to know that there are people who remember them and care about their well-being.
The Children Crisis Center itself is part of The Dreamhouse’s commitment to supporting children in need of special protection. The program provides a safe environment and holistic support, including education, psychosocial assistance, health services, recreational activities, and advocacy.
Because helping children is never only about providing things. It is about creating an environment where they can feel safe, valued, and hopeful.
Teaching Children to Care
There is something beautiful about seeing children learn to give. At an early age, children are often taught to ask questions, explore, create, and discover what they can do.
But growing up also means gradually discovering that the world is not only about me. There are other people. Other needs. Other stories. And we all have something we can contribute.
The Community Service Entrepreneurship Program of Olifant School offers an opportunity for that lesson to become real.
The students were not simply learning about entrepreneurship as a way to create economic value. They were also experiencing how their creativity, effort, and initiative could create social value.
This is an important part of education. Because the measure of learning is not always how much a child knows. Sometimes, it can be seen in how a child chooses to use what they know.
More Than a Donation
The groceries, household necessities, and furniture brought by the Olifant School delegation will certainly be useful for the Children Crisis Center. But the meaning of the visit goes beyond the items themselves.
A donation can fill a shelf. Furniture can fill a room. Food can fill a table. But an encounter can fill a heart with something different: the feeling of being remembered. That is why community support matters.
At The Dreamhouse, we believe that caring for children is a shared responsibility. Families, schools, communities, organizations, volunteers, and individuals all have a role to play in creating an environment where children can grow and thrive.
Our work has always been rooted in the belief that children should not have to face difficult circumstances alone. From our early work with children living and working on the streets to the development of the Children Crisis Center and Education Centers, our journey has always been about walking alongside children and believing in their dreams.
When Education Creates Compassion
The visit from Olifant School reminded us of something simple but important: Education should not only prepare children to build a better future for themselves. It should also prepare them to help build a better future for others.
