The grounds of The Dream House Indonesia Foundation were alive with the vibrant energy and laughter of children on Saturday, July 19, 2025. This atmosphere of pure joy was created by the “Ruang Ceria” (Joyful Space) event, a collaborative initiative conceived and led by the Sleman Children’s Forum (Forum Anak Sleman). The program was specially designed for the children of The Dream House’s own Children’s Forum, aiming to provide essential psychosocial support and a positive space for self-expression.
The Ruang Ceria activity is a core part of FAS’s commitment to fulfilling children’s right to participation, as mandated by Article 10 of Indonesia’s Child Protection Law No. 35 of 2014, which states that every child has the right to express their opinion and be heard in society.
A representative from the Sleman Regency Office of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control (DP3AP2) expressed their highest appreciation in a speech.
“The Ruang Ceria event initiated by the Sleman Children’s Forum is a tangible example of constructive child participation. Through positive activities like this, children are not just beneficiaries but also agents of change who can positively impact their peers. We fully support every step FAS takes in realizing a ‘Child-Friendly Sleman’,” the representative stated.
Meanwhile, Sammy Ladh, the founder of The Dream House Indonesia Foundation, shared his gratitude. “The visit from the Sleman Children’s Forum members has been a breath of fresh air for our children. They were incredibly enthusiastic and happy. Activities like this are vital for restoring their spirits and providing them with new, joyful experiences. We hope collaborations like this can continue long into the future,” he said.
A Sustainable Commitment to Indonesia’s Children
The Ruang Ceria event concluded with a group photo and the distribution of gift packages to the children. The success of this program is hoped to inspire similar initiatives from children’s forums in other regions.
This event was more than just fun and games; it was a long-term investment in building children’s psychosocial resilience, boosting creativity, and strengthening the nation’s character from an early age.
Embodying the spirit of “Nothing About Us Without Us,” the Sleman Children’s Forum has proven that child participation is not just a concept, but a meaningful and powerful action.
