Play Date: Creating Safe Spaces Through Play for Children

Play Date

On Wednesday May 13th 2026, the Children Crisis Center of was filled with laughter, games, and warm conversations during a special pre-fundraising activity called Play Date.

The event brought together people who care deeply about children and wanted to spend meaningful time with the children supported by the Children Crisis Center (CCC). More than just a gathering, Play Date became a reminder that healing and hope can begin with something as simple—and as powerful—as play.

Every Child Has the Right to Play

Play is often seen as a normal part of childhood, but for many vulnerable children, opportunities to play safely are rare.

Children who have experienced neglect, violence, exploitation, or unstable living conditions are often forced to grow up too quickly. In many cases, they lose the freedom to simply enjoy being children.

That is why the right to play is recognized as one of the fundamental rights of every child. Through play, children develop emotional resilience, creativity, confidence, social connection, and a sense of safety.

At the Children Crisis Center, creating safe and nurturing spaces for play is part of the healing journey.

More Than Games and Activities

During Play Date, volunteers and supporters joined the children in various activities—playing games, drawing, talking, laughing, and sharing moments together.

For many participants, the experience was deeply meaningful. It was not only about entertaining children, but about being present with them.

Simple interactions can carry powerful messages:

  • “You are seen.”
  • “You matter.”
  • “You are not alone.”

Moments like these help children rebuild trust and confidence after difficult experiences.

Building a Community of Care

Play Date was also designed as a pre-activity for the upcoming fundraising campaign supporting the Children Crisis Center, The Dream Fest 6.0.

Through this event, supporters were able to learn more about the realities faced by vulnerable children and the importance of long-term community support.

Healing children in crisis is not something that can be done alone. It requires safe environments, caring adults, access to education, emotional support, and a community willing to stand alongside them.

Every act of support—whether through volunteering, donations, or simply sharing awareness—helps create brighter possibilities for the children.

A Small Moment, A Lasting Impact

Sometimes, meaningful change begins with small moments:
A shared laugh.
A drawing together.
A game played under the afternoon sun.

Play Date reminded us that childhood joy is not a luxury—it is part of every child’s right and development.

As The Dreamhouse Indonesia Foundation continues its mission to support children in crisis, we hope more people will join this journey of creating spaces where children can feel safe, valued, and hopeful again.

Because every child deserves the chance not only to survive—but to dream, play, and thrive.
