Strengthening Our Foundation: A Reflection on The Dream House’s Internal Workshop

From March 24th to 26th, 2025, the entire internal team of The Dream House Indonesia gathered for a meaningful Internal Workshop. This event was specifically designed to strengthen the team’s capacity and create a unified understanding in providing the best possible service for the children we mentor.

This three-day workshop featured three key speakers who delivered fundamental and interconnected topics. Let’s dive into the highlights!

Day 1: Bringing Core Values to Life

The first session was led by  Sammy Ladh, the founder of The Dreamhouse, on “The Dream House’s Core Values and Approach”. Sammy emphasized that the main foundation of the work is building genuine relationships based on love, trust, and respect for the dignity of every child.

He also explained The Dream House’s holistic approach, which is centered on the recovery and empowerment of children. This session invited all to reflect on how deeply these core values are integrated into the daily work in the field.

Day 2: Understanding the Vital Role of Social Workers

On the second day, Raka Galih Sajiwo presented a session on “Introduction to Social Workers and Assessment”. This session broadened our perspective on the strategic role of social workers in child protection.

The participants learned about their professional identity, code of ethics, and essential skills, especially in conducting comprehensive and participatory assessments. Through discussions and case studies, the participants also practiced designing appropriate interventions based on assessment findings, ensuring the mentoring truly addresses the children’s needs.

Day 3: Commitment to Child Safeguarding

The final day featured a crucial session by Yosua Lapudooh on “Safeguarding and Policies at The Dream House”. Safeguarding is a protective system that ensures every child is in a safe environment, free from all forms of harm.

Yosua outlined the principles of safeguarding and the various policies implemented at The Dream House. This session also served as an open forum for evaluation, ensuring these policies are not just documents but are actively living and applied in every aspect of the work.

A Journey That Strengthened The Commitment

This internal workshop was more than just routine training; it was a space for collective reflection and reinforcement. These three valuable days enriched the knowledge, sharpened the skills, and, most importantly, strengthened the collective commitment of the entire team.

All return to the respective duties with renewed spirit and a more integrated understanding to continue making The Dream House a safe, loving place that always sides with the recovery and dreams of every child.
