Celebrating the international children’s day on June 1st, The Dreamhouse held the “Dreamhouse Futsal Tournament”. The participants of the tournament came from all the children under the care of the Dreamhouse in Yogyakarta Special Region.
The Children came from 10 areas in Sleman, Yogyakarta City, Kulonprogo, and Gunung Kidul. The participants are divided into two age categories, under 12 years old and under 16 years old. The games began at 8 a.m, and ended at 4 p.m.
The winner for the under 12 years old category is the children from The Children Crisis Center (CCC). The other category is won by the Tukangan children. Trophies were also given to the top goal scorer, the most valuable player, and the best supporter.
Besides celebrating the international children’s day, the tournament is also a way to fulfill one the children’s basic rights, the right to participate. Through this tournament, the children were given space to develop their talents in sports. Sports is a good way to teach the children about the values of hard work, fairness, and sportsmanship. The children could also make new friends, since there were over 110 children who participated.
The tournament was fully supported by the child’s rights stakeholders. The government, the Sleman social department, corporate companies (as sponsors), and the community from the areas under the care of the dreamhouse, gave their support.
The tournament is now a new annual agenda of the Dreamhouse. Every International Children’s Day the tournament will be held.
