Mestara is an institution established in 2021 with a mission to assist Indonesian women in fully developing their potential through professional training and mentoring. In 2023, Mestara partnered with the Indonesian Dream House Foundation to implement the Mestara Empowerment program for children at the Children Crisis Center.
According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in 2023, DI Yogyakarta ranks fourth highest in the percentage of the most impoverished population (10.67%). Additionally, based on the DATAKU information system by BAPPEDA DIY, the number of street children in DI Yogyakarta increased by 280% from 2022 to 2023, with a total of 132 street children at the beginning of 2023.
The Mestara Empowerment 2023 program is designed with the aim of providing positive influence and encouragement to young children to pursue their dreams, obtain quality education, and build a brighter future. This event is also a significant first step in helping street children in Yogyakarta enter the world of education and employment with more confidence.
Mestara Empowerment 2023 will take place on December 9, 2023, at the Upper West Hall of the Social Affairs Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. During this event, children will receive training on:
1. Opportunities for higher education financing through scholarships for participants, including street children.
2. Creating a CV/Resume to support scholarship application and job application processes.
3. Interview techniques to support scholarship application and job application processes.
4. Developing a mindset and motivation to overcome obstacles, dream big, and build their future.
This program is a manifestation of the concern of Mestara and the Indonesian Dream House Foundation for the social disparities among the Indonesian population. When open-mindedness and opportunities are provided to street children and at-risk children in Indonesia, their potential will be maximized, allowing them to have a better quality of life.
